Jarzé is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Jarzé Villages with 1,836 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire .

geography

Jarzé is located in the north of the Maine-et-Loire department on the edge of the Grand Bois de Jarzé in the Baugeois countryside .

history

From 1790 Jarzé was briefly the capital of the canton. However, the canton was dissolved as early as 1801 and most of it was added to the canton of Seiches-sur-le-Loir . In 2015, it was reassigned to the canton of Angers-6.

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Beauveau , Chaumont-d'Anjou , Jarzé and Lué-en-Baugeois were merged into a Commune nouvelle called Jarzé Villages. The municipality of Jarzé belonged to the Arrondissement of Angers and the canton of Angers-6 (until 2015: canton Seiches-sur-le-Loir ).

Attractions

The church of Jarzé also has a tower with a twisted top, typical of the Baugeois.

traffic

Angers Airport is three kilometers west on the D 766 road . One kilometer further there is a motorway junction for the A11 autoroute .
