Jasser Auda

Jasser Auda ( Arabic جاسر عودة; born 1966 ) is a contemporary Islamic legal scholar and a globally active figure of Islam of Egyptian origin who works from London and Doha ( Qatar ) and is considered an authority in the field of Islamic legal purposes ( maqāṣid aš-šarīʿa ).

Live and act

Jasser Auda was born in 1966. He earned a PhD in Philosophy of Islamic Law from the University of Wales ( United Kingdom ) and a PhD in Systems Analysis from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

He is the deputy director of the Center of Islamic Legislation and Ethics (CILE) of the Qatar Foundation . He holds the Al-Shatibi Chair of Maqasid Studies at the International Peace College South Africa and Visiting Professor of Islamic Law at Carleton University in Canada . He is the founder and board member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars , a member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research and a member of the Islamic Fiqh Academy in India ( Delhi ), and Secretary General of Yaqazat Feker , an Egyptian youth organization .

For the ideological training of students of Islamic madrasas in Deoband ( UP ), Lucknow (UP), Patna ( Bihar ), Azamgarh (UP), Umarabad , Kerala and Hyderabad ( Andhra Pradesh ) he held courses on the subject of Islamic Principles of Law ). Among other things, he was also a member of the Advisory Board of the India International Islamic Academic Conference (IIIAC) from 8–9. October 2016 in India at the Islamic Cultural Center New Delhi.

As director of the Al-maqasid Research Center in the Philosophy of Islamic Law in London ( United Kingdom ), he was one of the signatories of the initiative A Common Word (A Common Word).

He is the author of various works that have been translated into many languages.

Some of his publications appeared at the US-American International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), which sees itself as the think tank of the Muslim Brotherhood , based in Herndon , Virginia in the United States , a suburb of Washington, DC
