Jay Rosehill (born July 16, 1985 in Olds , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the American Hockey League since the 2014/15 season .
Career
Jay Rosehill began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Olds Grizzlys, for whom he was active in the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2002 to 2004 . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the seventh round as a total of 227th player by the Tampa Bay Lightning , for which he however never played. Instead, the winger ran in the 2004/05 season for the University of Minnesota Duluth team . From 2005 to 2009, the left shooter was on the ice for the Springfield Falcons and Norfolk Admirals from the American Hockey League and the Johnstown Chiefs and Mississippi Sea Wolves from the ECHL . Shortly before the end of the 2008/09 season he moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs , in whose AHL farm team Toronto Marlies he ended the season.
For the 2009/10 season Rosehill was included in the squad of the Toronto Maple Leafs, for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League on October 1, 2009 in the home game against the Montréal Canadiens . The Canadian scored his first goal on October 6, 2009 in the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins .
In October 2012, Rosehill was committed by the Norfolk Admirals for a try-out, which is valid for a maximum of 25 games of the regular season. After the NHL lockout ended in January 2013, he was signed by the Anaheim Ducks , but played exclusively for their AHL farm team. The Californians transferred him to the Philadelphia Flyers in early April 2013 . There he was still used regularly in the 2013/14 season, but from the beginning of the following season he played exclusively in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms . In August 2015, Rosehill signed a new contract with the Phantoms that only applies to the AHL.
