Jean-Christian Cady

Jean-Christian Cady (born December 17, 1943 in Angers , Maine , France ) is a French civil servant and employee of the United Nations .

Career

Jean-Christian Cady was born to Raymond and Simone Cady. In 1967 he received diplomas from the National School of Administration and the Institute for Political Studies in Paris . In 1967 he was admitted to the School of Law in Paris.

From 1973 to 1975 Cady was sub-prefect in the Pamiers sub-prefecture , from 1975 to 1977 commercial advisor at the French embassy in Tehran ( Iran ) and from 1977 to 1982 cabinet director of the Lyon prefecture . From 1982 to 1984 he was Secretary General of the Prefecture of Martinique , from 1984 to 1987 of the Sub-Prefect of Roanne , from 1987 to 1993 of the General Manager of the General Council of Seine-Maritime and from 1993 to 1996 of the Prefect of the Prefecture of Hautes-Alpes in Gap . From November 1996 to April 1999 Cady was Prefect of Aveyron in Rodez and then Inspector General in the Ministry of the Interior.

On November 23, 1999, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appointed Cady as Deputy Special Representative for the United Nations Interim Administration for East Timor (UNTAET). On September 20, 2001, Cady took over the office of Minister for Police and Emergency Services in the First Interim Government of East Timor , which consisted of international and East Timorese members. It was replaced on September 20, 2001 by the second interim government of East Timor , which, apart from administrator Sérgio Vieira de Mello , only belonged to East Timorese.

Cady already became Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Kosovo and Head of Pillar I of UNMIK in August 2001 . His service there ended on December 15, 2004.

Cady has been married to Angela Rosemary Gray since 1972 and has two daughters and one son.

From 1988 to 1990 Cady was vice president of the Association du Corps Prefectoral.

He has been the recipient of the Médaille de la Renaissance française since 2011 .
