Jean-Marc Vallée OC OQ (born March 9, 1963 in Montréal , † December 25, 2021 in Québec ) was a Canadian director , screenwriter , film editor , actor and film producer . He was nominated for an Oscar in 2014 under the pseudonym John Mac McMurphy .

Life

Vallée completed a film degree at the Université du Québec à Montréal . First he made short films. His first feature film Gabrielle's black list (List noire) (1995) was nominated for nine Genie Awards . His film CRAZY - Verrücktes Leben (2005) tells the problematic adolescent growing up in the midst of his family. The film was successful at the Canadian box office and received various awards. In 2006 he dominated the 26th Genie Awards , won eleven categories and the Prix ​​Jutra in fourteen. Vallée worked in this film as a director, screenwriter, actor and producer. Jean-Marc Vallée was married to Nadia Live. The marriage resulted in the children Alex and Émile. The younger Émile played the main character in childhood in CRAZY - Crazy Life.

Jean-Marc Vallée died on the evening of December 25, 2021 at the age of 58.
