Jean-Paul Randriamanana

Jean-Paul Randriamanana (born June 27, 1950 in Antananarivo ; † November 9, 2011 ) was a Malagasy clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

Jean-Paul Randriamanana studied philosophy and theology in the seminary in Ambatoroka and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Antananarivo on September 9, 1979 . He was vicar in Mahamasina (1979–1982) and pastor in the district of Ambohimiadana (1982–1986) and rector of the Minor Seminary (1986–1998). In 1998 he became vicar general and pastor of the Cathedral of Antananarivo.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Pariah in Proconsolare in 1999 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Antananarivo. The Archbishop of Antananarivo, Armand Gaétan Cardinal Razafindratandra OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on September 26, 1999 ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Adriano Bernardini , Apostolic Nuncio in Madagascar, and Joseph Ignace Randrianasolo , Bishop of Mahajanga.

Randriamanana died after a long vascular illness. As a songwriter and poet, he composed over thirty hymns.

He was a supporter of the Force de changement pour la démocratie (FCD) .
