Jean-Philippe Allard

Jean-Philippe Allard (born April 8, 1957 in Saint-Mandé ) is a French music producer and manager of the phonogram industry .

Allard started out as a producer in the late 1970s. In Paris he monitored albums by Gil Evans / Laurent Cugny , Helen Merrill , Charlie Haden , Hank Jones , Stan Getz , Kenny Barron , John McLaughlin , Graham Haynes , Christian Escoudé , Bheki Mseleku , Juliette Gréco and Laïka Fatien . Productions of Abbey Lincoln and Randy Weston transported whose international comeback. He was also responsible for reissues from Jimmy Giuffre , Chet Baker , Bobby Jaspar and Miles Davis .

In 1998 Allard became general manager of the French Polydor . He also headed their jazz and classical division. Since 2007, Allard has been responsible for the publications of Universal Music Publishing France MGB . In 2012 he received an honorary award from Les Victoires du Jazz . In 2014 he reactivated the Impulse label ! for new publications, e.g. by Henry Butler / Steven Bernstein or Ran Blake . In the same year Allard was awarded the Prix ​​Bruce Lundvall at the Montreux Jazz Festival for his work as a producer .
