Jeff Lederer

Jeff Lederer (* 1962 ) is an American jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , composition , arrangement ).

Live and act

Lederer worked in the New York jazz scene from the 1990s; first recordings were made in 1995 with his wife, singer Mary LaRose ( Cutting the Chord ). In the following years he played a. a. with Ed Palermo ( Plays the Music of Frank Zappa ), the Jeff Raheb Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Matt Wilson ( Humidity , 2002), Katie Bill, Bobby Sanabria Big Band and Ted Kooshian . In 2010 he recorded his debut album Sunwatcher (Jazzheads) with Jamie Saft , Buster Williams and Matt Wilson . In the 2010s he worked with Allison Miller , Chris Lightcap , Michael Musillami , Kirk Knuffke ( Arms & Hands , 2015), Gary Lucas ( Music from Max Fleischer Cartoons , 2015), Deric Dickens and the vocal trio Duchess (Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner, Melissa Stylianou). In the field of jazz he was involved in 28 recording sessions between 1995 and 2015. Together with his wife, Lederer also leads the band Shakers n 'Bakers , which combines the Shaker's vision songs with the music of Albert Ayler . He also played in Jimmy Bosch's salsa band and in the Brooklyn Rider string quartet . He is currently a member of Joe Fiedler's Stunt Chicken . Lederer teaches at New York Public Schools and Jazz at Lincoln Center .
