Jeffrey Townsend

Jeffrey Townsend (* 14. May 1954 in New York City , USA ) is an American art director and advertising film and video - director , with occasional excursions to second-unit director, assistant director, television film composition and work as a screenwriter for the Serial television.

Life

Townsend attended Choate School and Bennington College, and received his artistic training at the Rhode Island School of Design and the San Francisco Art Institute. He then worked for four years as a designer for print advertising, after which Townsend switched to film as an assistant to film architects and production designers such as Santo Loquasto and Pato Guzman . One of his early works was Philip Rosenberg's assistant on the shooting of “ Behind the Spotlight ” in 1978/79 , for which Rosenberg was awarded an Oscar .

Jeffrey Townsend made his debut as a self-employed film architect in 1981 with Peter Lilienthal's German production "Dear Mr. Wonderful". “Townsend's oeuvre is comparatively narrow, but often above average (“ Baby it's You ”,“ Reckless ”,“ The Time After Midnight ”,“ The Fabulous Baker Boys ”,“ Sleepless in Seattle ”,“ The Wedding Day ”) At the end of the millennium, he worked with such central directors as Martin Scorsese , John Sayles and John Schlesinger .
