Jefim Jurjewitsch Gurkin ( Russian Ефим Юрьевич Гуркин ; English transcription: Yefim Yuryevich Gurkin ; born November 13, 1992 in Ufa ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Sibir Novosibirsk from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since July 2020 and there plays in the position of defender .

Career

Jefim Gurkin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Salawat Yulayev Ufa . For his junior team Tolpar Ufa he ran for the first time in the 2009/10 season in the newly established multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga . After another season at Tolpar, the defender made his debut for the professional team of Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the Continental Hockey League in the 2011/12 season , but continued to play in parallel for Tolpar Ufa in the MHL.

As part of the KHL Expansion Draft 2014, Gurkin moved to the newly founded HK Sotschi in June 2014 , but was subsequently only used in the HK Kuban Krasnodar in the Wysschaja Hockey League (a total of 21 games). In June 2015 he was handed over to the HK Lada Tolyatti , for which he completed over 130 KHL games in the three following years. After the 2017/18 season, Lada Tolyatti was expelled from the KHL and Gurkin decided to continue his career at Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg . After two years there, he moved to HK Sibir Novosibirsk in July 2020 .

International

Gurkin took part in the 2010 U18 World Youth Championship for Russia . In the course of the tournament he scored two goals and two assists in seven games.
