Hans Scharf

Hans Scharf (born November 6, 1926 in Wiesbaden ; † December 2, 1980 ) was a German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Morocco and Senegal .

Life

Scharf, son of a teacher, learned the trade of aircraft builder. During the Second World War he did military service as an aviator .

After the war he studied social sciences and from 1955 to 1961 worked in various functions in the state apparatus and in the FDGB . Among other things, he was chairman of the art union in the Leipzig district .

From 1961 he was a member of the diplomatic service of the GDR. He was social attaché at the East German Consulate General in Cairo and then from 1967 to 1971 Counselor at the Consulate General and Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy in Damascus . Sharp was 1,970 at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig for Dr. phil. PhD. From 1971 to 1973 he was secretary and from November 1973 to 1978 deputy general secretary of the Afro-Asian Solidarity Committee of the GDR . From February 1978 he worked as the GDR's ambassador in Rabat and from May 1978 was second accredited in Senegal.

Scharf was a member of the SED .
