Jelena Wladimirowna Khrustaljowa ( Russian Елена Владимировна Хрусталёва ; born September 28, 1980 in Krasnoyarsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian and Belarusian and later Kazakh biathlete .

Jelena Khrustaljowa made her international debut at the Junior European Championships in Zakopane in 2000 . She won gold here in singles and with the Russian relay. At the Junior World Championships, which took place shortly afterwards in Hochfilzen , silver followed in the pursuit behind Sabrina Buchholz and with the relay, as well as fourth places in the individual and sprint. After all, in the summer of that year she started at the Junior World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk in the summer biathlon , where she won silver behind Tatiana Moissejewa .

For the following season Khrustalyova changed her citizenship and started now for Belarus. Now she made her debut in the biathlon world cup in Hochfilzen . The first result was a 36th place in the sprint. In the middle of the season, shortly before the 2002 Winter Olympics , she was able to achieve her best World Cup placements in Antholz . In the individual and with the relay Khrustalyova finished seventh, in the pursuit even sixth. At the Games in Salt Lake City , she reached a 33rd place in the sprint, a 30th place in the pursuit and a good seventh place with the relay.

For the 2003/04 season she changed back to Russian citizenship. However, due to the strong competition, it was mostly only used on a continental level. At the European Championships in 2003 in Forni Avoltri Khrustaljowa won gold in the individual and with the Russian relay, in 2005 in Novosibirsk again with the relay. She changed her citizenship again for the 2006/07 season and has since started for Kazakhstan. In the summer of 2007 she won the silver medals in sprint and mass start behind Natalia Sokolowa at the world championships in summer biathlon in Otepää . In the individual competition of the 2009 World Cup , Jelena Khrustaljowa achieved her best international placement to date with sixth place in the individual. At the 2010 Winter Olympics she was able to improve again and after a 5th place in the sprint she also won the silver medal in the individual.

Before the 2010 Winter Olympics, Khrustalyova had nude photos taken of himself for the Kazakh edition of Men's Health . With regard to the preparation for the competitions, the Moscow tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda mocked : "Some train diligently, others try to attract attention with provocative appearances."
