Yemetsk ( Russian Е́мецк ) is a village (selo) in northwestern Russia . It had the status of a city until 1925, belongs to the Kholmogorski rajon in Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 1077 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The Selo is located about 140 km southeast of the Oblast capital Arkhangelsk on the left side of the river Jemza , which flows about 10 km northeast into the Northern Dvina . The next largest city is Novodvinsk, about 120 km northwest .
The place is the administrative center of the rural community Yemetskoye ( Муниципальное образование "Емецкое" ), which includes three settlements (Peschemskoje, Potschtowoje and Waimuschski) and 125 villages (22 of them uninhabited in 2010) with a total of 4,948 inhabitants.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1137. Coming from Sija , the Moscow Post took him away . For some time it was the center of the Ujesds Jemetsk and until 1959 of the Jemezki rajon .

Economy and Infrastructure
Yemetsk is dominated by agriculture. Besides the collective farm unit there are no noteworthy establishments. The M8 Severodvinsk - Moscow road runs through the town .

- ↑ As part of an administrative reform in 2015, the rural communities of Satschatschjewskoje and Selezkoye were merged with the rural community of Yemetskoye . The population is calculated from the sum of the data collected in the 2010 census for all municipalities ( rural municipality Satschachevskoye 1310 inhabitants, rural municipality Selezkoye 608 inhabitants, rural municipality Yemetskoye 3030 inhabitants).
