Jemma Rebecca Redgrave (born January 14, 1965 in London , England ) is a British actress .

Life

Jemma Redgrave comes from a well-known acting family. Her father is the actor Corin Redgrave . Her aunts Lynn Redgrave and Vanessa Redgrave and her cousins Natasha Richardson and Joely Richardson are also active as actors. Her grandparents are Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson .

At the age of 18, Redgrave was accepted to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . After completing her acting training, Redgrave first went to the theater. She played her first role in the play Lady Windemere's Fan in Belfast , Northern Ireland . Performances in London's West End followed . Redgrave played Emily in Our Town and was seen in the play The Three Sisters alongside her aunts Vanessa and Lynn . This was followed by further theater appearances and smaller film and television appearances.

From 1995 to 1998 she played the leading role of Dr. Eleanor Bramwell in the Bramwell TV series . This made her better known.

In 2010, Redgrave appeared in the play The Great Game: Afghanistan .

From 2012 to 2015, Redgrave played the role of Kate Stewart in the science fiction series Doctor Who . She took on the role of Beverley Cressman , who played Kate Stewart in the films Downtime and Dæmos Rising . Redgrave speaks to Kate Stewart again in the Big Finish audio book series UNIT: Extinction , which revolves around Kate and her life at the secret organization UNIT .

In 2013, Redgrave got the lead role of Dr Evans in the British television series Frankie . In 2015 it was announced that Redgrave would play a surgeon on the British soap opera Holby City.
