Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7, 1979 in Louisville , Kentucky ) is an American actress , best known for her role in the crime series Dexter .
life and career
Jennifer Carpenter was best known for her role as Debra Morgan in the television series Dexter and for the film Der Exorzismus von Emily Rose (2005), in which she played the title role and was awarded for "Best Scared Act" at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards has been. In 2008, she starred as Angela Vidal in the horror film Quarantine . In March 2012 she was cast for the thriller The Devil's Hand - Forgive me father, for I have sinned . Also in 2012, she starred alongside Amanda Seyfried in the thriller Gone . In the television series Limitless , a spin-off of the film Without Limit , she played a leading role alongside Jake McDorman until the series was discontinued after a season. Director S. Craig Zahler cast Carpenter in his films Brawl in Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete . In 2019 she returned to the television screen as a leading actress alongside Morris Chestnut in the television series The Enemy Within as a traitor and former CIA agent.
Private
Carpenter was married to Michael C. Hall - her serial brother from Dexter - from December 2008 to December 2011 . In 2015 Carpenter got engaged to the American musician Seth Avett, whom she married in 2016. The two are parents of a son (* 2015).
In 2010 she took part in the New York City Marathon .
