Jenniffer González (born August 5, 1976 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican American politician . Since January 3, 2017, she has represented Puerto Rico as Resident Commissioner in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jenniffer Aydin González Colón, so her full name, graduated from University Gardens High School . After completing a law degree at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law and being admitted to the bar, she began working in her new profession.

Politically, she joined the Partido Nuevo Progresista (PNP), one of the most important Puerto Rican parties. She is currently its deputy chairwoman. At the same time, she is a member of the Republican Party at the US federal level . From 2007 to 2015 she was also vice-chairwoman of the Republican Party for Puerto Rico. Then she took over the chairmanship of this party there, which she still holds today. Since 2002 she sat in the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico. From 2009 to 2013 she was chairman ("Speaker") of this chamber. In 2013 she was there as a "minority leader" faction leader of her party.

In the 2016 congressional elections , Jenniffer González was elected as the joint candidate of her two parties as a non-voting delegate for four years to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where she succeeded Pedro Pierluisi on January 3, 2017 , who did not in 2016 more ran.
