Antonio J. Colorado Laguna (born September 8, 1939 in New York City ) is a Puerto Rican politician . In 1992 and 1993 he represented Puerto Rico as a Resident Commissioner in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

Antonio Colorado attended the public school affiliated with the University of Puerto Rico and then the local high school. Until 1962 he studied at Boston University . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Puerto Rico and Harvard University and his admission as a lawyer in 1966, he began to work in this profession from 1969. From 1966 to 1968 he was a legal advisor to the Economic Development Administration of Puerto Rico on tax matters. In 1973 he was on a commission to reform the tax laws of Puerto Rico. From 1978 to 1980 he lectured on tax law at the University of Puerto Rico and the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico . In 1985, Governor Rafael Hernández Colón appointed him economic development officer in Puerto Rico. Between 1990 and 1992 he held the post of Secretary of State there as the successor to Sila María Calderón . Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party and the Puerto Rican Partido Popular Democrático .

After the resignation of the non-voting Congress delegate Jaime Fuster , Colorado was appointed his successor in Congress , where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1992. Since he was not confirmed in the regular congressional elections in 1992 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1993. Today he heads the reconstruction agency in Ceiba . There used to be a naval base of the United States Navy , which deteriorated after the site was closed. Now this area is being revitalized.
