José Lorenzo Pesquera

José Lorenzo Pesquera (born August 10, 1882 in Bayamón , †  July 25, 1950 ibid) was a Puerto Rican politician . In 1932 and 1933 he represented Puerto Rico as a delegate ( Resident Commissioner ) in the United States House of Representatives .

Career

José Pesquera attended the Provincial Institute of Puerto Rico until 1897 . In 1902 and 1902 he graduated from Keystone State Normal School in Kutztown ( Pennsylvania ). After a subsequent law degree at West Virginia University in Morgantown and his admission to the bar in 1904, he began to work in this profession in Puerto Rico. He also worked in agriculture, where he produced milk, among other things. Between 1917 and 1920 he was an MP in the House of Representatives from Puerto Rico . He also served as President of the Agricultural Association of Puerto Rico .

After the resignation of the non-voting Congress delegate Félix Córdova Dávila , Pesquera was chosen by the governor of Puerto Rico as his successor. Since he did not run in the congressional elections of 1932 , he could only end the current legislative period in Congress between April 15, 1932 and March 3, 1933 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, José Pesquera returned to work as a lawyer and in agriculture. He died on July 25, 1950 in his hometown of Bayamón.
