Life

Born in Taiwan, Lin started playing the piano at the age of four. She grew up in Austria and moved to the United States at the age of 14 . She studied with the Goa- born pianist Noel Flores at the Vienna University of Music and with Julian Martin at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore . After completing her bachelor's degree , she expanded her knowledge through masterclasses with Blanca Uribe and Richard Goode in New York City , as well as Andreas Staier and Dmitri Bashkirov at Lake Como . In 1996 she won second prize at the José Iturbi competition in Valencia . In 1998, Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore awarded her a diploma in German literature. In 2003 she performed with 20 other pianists at a memorial concert in honor of the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in New York, at which the symphony for 21 pianos by the Italian composer and pianist Daniele Lombardi on 21 Fazioli grand pianos was premiered .

Repertoire and reception

Although Jenny Lin was neither signed by an influential concert agency nor one of the first prizewinners of major competitions, her career got off to a successful start. She has given concerts in Europe, the United States and in her native Taiwan. Thanks to her versatile talent, she is known and often present in the New York environment, which is also due to her interest in new music . Many contemporary composers, including George Crumb and Daniel Felsenfeld, have dedicated their own piano works to her.

Your CD recordings are characterized by varied programs and beautifully sounding virtuoso interpretations. After recording two great romantic piano works in 1997, the piano sonata in B minor (Liszt) and the Fantasy in C major (Schumann) , as well as a suite by the Chinese composer Guan Xia, Robert von Bahr , founder of BIS Records , joined her attentive. In 2001 he published a compilation of early piano works by the American composer Joan Crawford Seeger and in 2000 an original collection of chinoiseries , which presented composers from different eras and styles such as Gioachino Rossini , Ferruccio Busoni , Abram Chasins and John Luther Adams with short, brilliant and easily played miniatures.
