Jens-Olaf Koltermann (* 1958 in Bad Oldesloe ) is a Brigadier General in the Army of the German Armed Forces and Sub-Department Head Cyber ​​/ Information Technology I in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin.

Military career

Koltermann joined the Bundeswehr in 1978 and completed his training as an officer in the telecommunications force . From 1980 to 1984 he completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . Various uses followed in the telecommunications force, before Koltermann took part in the general staff course at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg from 1992 to 1994 . This was again followed by various assignments in the telecommunications force and in staff and office assignments, so from 2006 to 2008 as head of department in Department A ( information management, innovation, conception ) in the (then) Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr in Koblenz . From 2008 to 2011 Koltermann was the commander of the (now dissolved), consisting of six battalions , Telecommunications Regiment 28 in Mechernich . From 2011 to 2012 he completed further training at the United States Army War College in Carlisle , Pennsylvania , from which he graduated with a Master of Strategic Studies . He then became in 2012 head of the guide base region 6 in the (then) Joint Support Command , with duty station Rheinbach . This was followed by a ministerial assignment from 2012 to 2015 as Head of Division SE III 3 (management support, personnel matters and management organization in action) in the strategy and deployment department at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. From 2015 to 2018 Koltermann was Head of Information Technology at the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw) in Koblenz. On this post he was also promoted to brigadier general. In 2017 he also took part in the 48th Senior International Defense Resources Management Course at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey (California) . Since April 1, 2018, Koltermann has been in his current position as sub-department head Cyber ​​/ Information Technology I (Cyber ​​/ IT Governance ) in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin.
