Jens Kiefer (born November 9, 1974 in St. Ingbert ) is a German football coach .

Career

player

Kiefer played for the Saarland clubs SV Elversberg and Borussia Neunkirchen in the Regionalliga West / Südwest and Oberliga Südwest . He was also a player in the Palatinate club FK Pirmasens .

Trainer

After the end of his playing career, Kiefer initially stayed with Borussia Neunkirchen and trained the 2nd team and the U-17 team. After coaching the offspring at 1. FC Saarbrücken , Kiefer was hired at FC 08 Homburg in 2008 . After a successful 2008/09 season (2nd place), Kiefer and his team were promoted to the Regionalliga West in the following season . He then left Homburg and was hired by SV Elversberg . First he coached the second team. In October 2011, Kiefer finally coached the first team, which he led to promotion to the 3rd division in the 2012/13 season . On August 22, 2013 Jens Kiefer announced his resignation on August 24 after the game against Halleschen FC . He justified this step with his double burden of having to acquire the coaching license required by the DFB for the 3rd division at the same time. The club signed the former professional Dietmar Hirsch as his successor .

On March 18, 2014, Kiefer took over the position of head coach at Eintracht Trier in the Regionalliga Südwest. After the end of the season, Kiefer received an offer from FC 08 Homburg for the 2014/15 season. When FC Homburg was transferred to Trier Eintracht, Kiefer's contract was terminated and he signed a contract with FC Homburg until 2017.

After two single-digit positions in the table and winning the Saarland Cup in 2016, Kiefer was dismissed on April 14, 2017 in Homburg due to continued unsuccessfulness.

On January 12, 2018, Kiefer was introduced as the new coach of the U17s at 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He should take over the team until the end of the season. However, he was already on leave after around two months after SV Elversberg announced a few days earlier that Kiefer would take over the A-Juniors for the coming season and head the Saar youth training center there as general manager.
