Jeremiah Coffey

Jeremiah Joseph Coffey (born January 1, 1933 in Cork , Ireland , † November 19, 2014 in Bairnsdale , Australia ) was Bishop of Sale .

Life

Jeremiah Coffey studied philosophy and theology and was ordained a priest on June 22, 1958 in Cork by the Archbishop of Saint John's, Newfoundland , Patrick James Skinner CIM . In 1958 he went to Australia as a missionary minister and worked in the Diocese of Sale .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Sale on April 8, 1989. The Archbishop of Melbourne , Thomas Francis Little , donated him episcopal ordination on June 30 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Joseph Eric D'Arcy , Archbishop of Hobart , and David Cremin , Auxiliary Bishop in Sydney .

On January 2, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
