Jerry Zucker (born March 11, 1950 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American screenwriter , director and producer and brother of David Zucker . Together with his brother and Jim Abrahams , he founded the filmmaker trio ZAZ .

Career

Jerry Zucker began his career in the late 1960s with his older brother David and their mutual friend Jim Abrahams . Together they found Kentucky Fried Theater , with which they stage the program Vegetables , which consists of a series of satirical skits , simple nonsense and attacks on the American way of life . After unexpected success - the show sold out for months - the troupe moved to Los Angeles in 1969 , where they continued their triumphant advance. 1977 saw the first work in Hollywood , when the Zucker brothers and Abrahams wrote the script for the film Kentucky Fried Movie (director: John Landis ).

The common path of the three continues with similarly crazy films, whose typical feature is the parody of entire film genres. In doing so, they engage precisely the actors for their films who previously played in the serious cinematic role models, and let them fool themselves.

Her best-known films from this period include The Incredible Journey on a Crazy Plane (1980), Top Secret! (1984) and The Incredible Abduction of Mad Mrs. Stone (1986). At this time, the successful comedy trilogy The Naked Cannon , which the brothers produced together, came into being.

After Die Nackte Kanone 33⅓ , Zucker began his solo career, initially as a producer and director of The First Knight , an adventure film about King Arthur and the Round Table with Sean Connery in the lead role. His last directorial work was Rat Race in 2001.
