Jesús Ricardo Angulo Uriarte , also known as Canelo Angulo (born February 20, 1997 in Culiacán ), is a Mexican football player who has been under contract with the first division club Deportivo Guadalajara since January 2020 . The left winger has been Mexico's international since October 2019 .

He is the older brother of the football player of the same name, Jesús Angulo .

Jesús Angulo joined the Club Tijuana Youth Academy in January 2014 , having previously played with the Águilas de la UAS in Sinaloa . In July 2015 he returned to Sinaloa and there joined the larger association Dorados de Sinaloa . On March 13, 2016 he made his debut for the first team in the 1: 2 away defeat against the Leones Negros de la UdeG in the Copa MX when he came on for Guillermo Rojas in the 63rd minute . In the 2016 Clausura , the left winger played two games, had to relegate his club to the second-class Ascenso MX and he was also used in two cup games.

In the second highest Mexican league, Angulo developed into an undisputed regular player and contributed significantly to winning the Apertura 2016 , which qualified the team for the promotion final at the end of the season. On January 22, 2017 (4th matchday of the Clausura) he scored his first goal for the Dorados in the 2-4 home defeat against Atlante FC . This was lost after two games with an overall result of 2: 3 against the winners of the Clausura 2017 Lobos de la BUAP . He finished the 2016/17 season with nine goals in a total of 32 league games. In the next 2017/18 season he played 31 league games in which he scored four times.

For the 2018/19 season Angulo returned to Club Tijuana and thus to the highest Mexican division . He played his first game on July 21, 2018 (1st matchday of Apertura) in a 2-1 home win against Deportivo Guadalajara . On August 16, 2018, he scored his first goal for the Xolos in a 3-1 home win against FC Juárez in the Cup . He completed the 2018 Apertura with 14 assignments. His first goal in the league was in the 4-1 away win against Monarcas Morelia on April 27, 2019 (16th matchday of Clausura), in which he also prepared two goals from Gustavo Bou . In the 2019 Clausura he played 13 games in which he scored one goal and presented three.

On June 18, 2019, Jesús Angulo moved to league competitor Club Necaxa for a transfer fee of 3.5 million euros . He made his debut on July 28, 2019 (2nd matchday of Apertura) in the 2-0 away defeat against the UNAM Pumas , when he came on for Mauro Quiroga in the 71st minute of the game . Just a week later he met Rojos for the first time in a 7-0 home win against the Tiburones . On September 15, 2019 (9th matchday of Apertura), he scored both Rayos goals in the 2-0 away win against CF Monterrey . In Apertura 2019 , he scored four goals in 21 league games and prepared four more goals.

On December 17, 2019, his move to Deportivo Guadalajara was announced for a transfer fee of 7.2 million euros . On January 1, 2020, he started the signed four-year contract there. On January 12, 2020 (1st matchday of Clausura) he made his debut in a 2-0 home win against FC Juárez for Chivas , when he came on for Alexis Vega in the 71st minute of the game . At his new club, he did not make the breakthrough in the starting line-up in the next games and played seven league games in the shortened Clausura 2020 .

Jesús Angulos one year younger and brother of the same name Jesús Angulo is also a professional football player. His brother is more defensive and finds himself on the pitch in the position of the left full- back. The fact that the names are identical ensures that he is referred to by the specialist press as Jesús Ricardo Angulo and his brother as Jesús Alberto Angulo in order to avoid confusion. In addition to this, he is often given his nickname "Canelo" by the Mexican media.
