Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Belousov ( Russian Евгений Александрович Белоусов even Yevgeni Belousov transcribed; 20th December 1970 in Chelyabinsk , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet amateur boxer in the super heavyweight .
Career
Belousov started boxing at the age of 12. His first trainer was Viktor Baranov. He was able to record his first major successes in 1988 when he won the Soviet Junior Championship and the European Junior Championship . At the Junior European Championship, which was held in Gdańsk, Poland, from August 8th to 14th of that year, Belousov defeated Valentin Georgiev and Joern Gerhardt with 5-0 points and Massimo Migliaccio in the first round early. Two years later he won the Soviet senior championship and the Goodwill Games in Seattle , where he sensationally defeated Cuban Roberto Balado in round 1 in the quarterfinals - in the semifinals he defeated Romanian Vasile Adumitroaie by disqualification in round 3 and in Final the US-American Larry Donald with 3-2 judges votes.
1991 turned out to be the most successful of his career. With a demolition victory in Round 3 on the Finnish Mika Kihlström and a unanimous points victory over the Bulgarians Svilen Rusinov and the German Andreas Schneider was Belousov in the Swedish capital Gothenburg on May 12 of that year, European champion . He secured a bronze medal at the World Tenancy in Sydney that same year . He won over Seung Won Jung in round 1 by giving up and over Henryk Zatyka on points, before he was clearly and unanimously defeated on points in the semifinals to Cuban Roberto Balado.
In Tampere , Finland , Belousov captured another bronze medal at the 7th World Championships two years later. There he won against Richard Igbineghu with 15.14 on points and lost in the semifinals against Swilen Rusinow 7-5.
