Jimmy Jackson started six times in his career at the Indianapolis 500 , with his best result in 1946, a second place in a Miller FD - Offenhauser . Between 1947 and 1949 he achieved results in the top 10. When he started in 1950 , he retired on a Kurtis Kraft - Cummins in the 52nd lap with damage to the vibration damper.
