from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joachim Lischke (born December 16, 1923 in Breslau ; † November 27, 2014 in Saarbrücken ) was a German photographer .

biography

Joachim Lischke grew up in a family of lawyers. From 1948 to 1951 he studied at the State School for Arts and Crafts ( Saarbrücken ) in the photography class of Otto Steinert , whose master student and assistant he became. His fellow students, who in later years established themselves as established representatives of the subjective photography taught by Steinert , included: Erich von Endt, Monika von Boch , Kilian Breier, Harald Bookmann, Gunther Keusen and Guido Mangold.

In 1952, Lischke completed a vocational education course at Saarland University (Saarbrücken). In the years 1961 to 1963 he received a teaching position for the subject "Photography" at the Werkkunstschule (Saarbrücken), a successor to the original state school for arts and crafts. From 1955 to 1985 Lischke worked full-time as a photographer at the State Image Office of the Saarland in Saarbrücken (today: State Image Office Saarland in the State Institute for Education and Media, LPM); since then he has been working as a freelance photographer. Lischke was married to the artist Jolande Lischke-Pfister . He lived and worked in Saarbrücken. He died there on November 27, 2014.

Lischke's artistic work was strongly influenced by his teacher Otto Steinert and his teaching of "subjective photography". He developed his artistic maxim by looking, searching and experimenting:

“His artistic work should be kept open, the process of his work was and is important to him. He wants to penetrate the surfaces of his photographic objects and show what lies beneath it, which is almost hidden. With this in mind, Lischke photographed the surface of iron pipes, steel girders, screws or other building materials in oversized settings as early as the 1950s and showed their micro-shapes aesthetics that were hidden from the normal eye. During this time he photographed the numerous industrial landscapes in the Saarland that had shaped this region. In 1954 his first illustrated book “ Die Saar ” was published. In 1958, because of his previous work, he was named by the specialist magazine "Photorama" as the discoverer of the industrial landscape for photography. In 1961, Martin Klewitz published Das Saarland, an illustrated book with pictures by Liscke.

In the following years Lischke developed his work beyond pure photography, he devoted himself to the experimental side of photography. So he developed a process that was able to capture light and capture it in his “luminograms” on the plate. In doing so, he handled scouring powder applied to a glass plate or warmed gelatine, which took on unusual structures under the influence of light. Lischke was fascinated by these open processes, which often made something visible that existed but remained hidden to the human eye.

In 1961, together with Monika von Boch , he photographed the illustrated book d Merzig - Picture of a City on the Saar by Alfred Diwersy . In 1974 he illustrated the work of Karl August Schleiden Saarbrücken - Blick -punkte a state capital .
