Joachim Schönermarck

Joachim Schönermarck (born November 2, 1575 in Rostock ; † May 16, 1631 ibid) was a German legal scholar, university professor and rector.

Life

Schönermarck was a son of the state rent master of the same name and Princely Mecklenburg councilor Joachim Schönermarck (1542–1600) and his wife Anna Kassebohm (1545–1593). He began studying law at the University of Rostock in 1589 , then moved to the University of Jena , where he was awarded a doctorate in 1603. who received a doctorate in law.

After completing his studies, he returned to Rostock with his family, where he was appointed professor of law at the university in 1611 as the successor to Bartholomäus Klinge, who died in 1610 . In addition, in 1612 he was appointed academic assessor at the court and regional court and assessor of the Princely Consistory. In 1613, 1619 and 1625 he was rector of the university.


From 1599 the Joachim Schönermarck family was married to Agatha Christina Weißbach, the daughter of the Henneberg Council Stephan Weißbach. One son, Joachim Friedrich, also studied in Jena. Schönermarck's sister Anna (1577–1652) married Hajo von Nesse (1562–1620), a lawyer, Prof. Dr. iur. utr. at the Rostock University and Mecklenburg Chancellor.
