Joachim von Pritzbuer (born February 5, 1665 in Kiewe, † May 24, 1719 in Nossentin ) was a Mecklenburg nobleman , Danish budget councilor, Oberlanddrost of the Duchy of Bremen and the county of Oldenburg .

Life

origin

Pritzbuer was a member of the Mecklenburg noble family von Pritzbuer . His parents were the hereditary lords of Grabenitz , Kelle, Walow , Schweez, Liesow and Groß Meinsow, governor of Wredenhagen , court master and educator of Duke Gustav Adolfs von Mecklenburg , Count of Oldenburg - Delmenhorst's court and chancellery and ducal Mecklenburg secretary and court councilor, Andreas von Pritzbuer zu Grabenitz (1608–1667), and his wife Ilsabe von Stralendorff († after 1680).

Career

Pritzbuer studied and then undertook a comprehensive cavalier tour . He then became ducal chamberlain and chancellery of Mecklenburg , but went to the Danish court in 1695 as the prince tutor of the Danish prince Christian, son of the Danish king Christian V. When his pupil died on a trip that same year, Pritzbuer remained in the service of the royal family as a chamberlain or steward . In 1705 he became the governor of Funen and Upper Langeland . In the Danish service he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel and was awarded the Dannebrogden in 1712 . On July 25, 1713, he was appointed royal Danish Oberlanddrost of the counties of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst . During his time as Oberlanddrost he was often ill and withheld urgently needed funds for maintenance and the construction of dikes. The poor condition of most of the dikes and the catastrophic damage caused by the Christmas flood of 1717 in the county are therefore his responsibility and could only be repaired from 1718 under his successor Christian Thomesen Sehested .

In 1718 Pritzbuer asked for his release for health reasons and withdrew to his estates Nossentin and Sparow , where he died soon afterwards. In 1722 he wrote a book in Latin about the Mecklenburg nobility that appeared posthumously.

family

Pritzbuer married Charlotte Amalie von Knuth (1678–1732), heiress of Nossentin, Sant and Sparow, daughter of Eckhard Christoph von Knuth (1643–1697) and the Søster born. von Lerche (1658–1723) from Danish nobility. The marriage resulted in a son Christian Wilhelm (1698–1710) and a daughter Louise (* 1701; † before 1749), who in 1719 gave the Nossentin estate to her husband Harbord von Holle (1680–1723).

Through the Knuth family there were relatives to the later Oldenburg Oberlanddrosten Adam Levin von Witzleben (1688–1745).
