Villa Joachimstrasse 7 (2011)

The building at Joachimstrasse 7 is a villa in the Gronau district of Bonn , which was built in 1912. It is located almost 100 m west of Adenauerallee ( Bundesstrasse 9 ) on the outskirts of Südstadt . The villa is in brick built and stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The villa was built according to a design by the Bonn architect and government master builder Julius Rolff .

After Bonn became the seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1949 , the villa was on the edge of the new parliament and government district . In 1956 it became the seat of the office of the German Society for Foreign Policy (DGAP). After the lease expired, the state of Berlin acquired the villa in 1959 in order to use it as an administrative building for its representation at the federal government ( state representative ) with a guest house in the double villa opposite, Joachimstrasse 6/8 . In return, the DGAP was able to move into the previous building of the state representative office on the banks of the Rhine ( Schaumburg-Lippe-Strasse 6 ), and Berlin moved into the villa in Joachimstrasse in February 1960. The country had there office space of 1064 m² in 34 rooms on a land area of 1593 m².

In the course of the relocation of the seat of parliament and government , the state representation moved to Berlin in 2000 . The Bonn location was initially maintained - due to the establishment of a branch in Berlin in January 2000 with reduced staff - until the Federal Council also relocated to Berlin in the summer of 2000 . Following the closure of the Representation in Bonn late August, the State of Berlin has the property in September 2000 for 2.6 million Deutschmark sell. The new owner was a Bonn auction and trading company for stamps and coins, which is one of the leading in Germany. Since Joachimstraße is designated as a residential area, offices were only allowed to be set up on the upper and top floors.

The villa was entered in the city of Bonn's list of monuments in 2000.
