Jochem Pechau

Jochem Pechau (born May 27, 1929 in Marburg ; † March 28, 1989 in Weibern ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

Jochem Pechau was born in Marburg an der Lahn in 1929. From 1947 to 1949 he attended Walter Auch's sculpting class in Biedenkopf . From 1950 to 1957 he studied at the Cologne factory schools with Ludwig Gies .

In addition to numerous tabernacles and baptismal fonts, Pechau also created woodcut series with religious motifs. In 1959 he received the sponsorship award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for young artists . Pechau lived and worked in Cologne-Höhenhaus and in Weibern (Eifel) .
