Jochen Holzer
Jochen Holzer (born October 6, 1934 in Munich - † February 13, 2019 ) was a German industrial manager who was Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayernwerk and, after the merger of Bayernwerk with VIAG, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of both VIAG and Bayernwerk AG.
Life
After graduating from high school, Jochen Holzer completed an apprenticeship at Siemens as an industrial clerk ( parent company apprenticeship ) and then studied economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . He received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. with a thesis on electrification in developing countries. After completing his doctorate, Holzer worked in the Federal Ministry of Economics from 1961 , where he went through various stations: first he began there as an "assistant consultant" in a department whose head was then Ludwig Erhard . Between 1966 and 1968 he was “personal assistant” to State Secretaries Fritz Neef and Klaus von Dohnanyi . Later he was head of unit for energy policy and from 1970 head of unit for aerospace.
From 1971 he was head of the main finance department at Bayernwerk AG. From 1990 to 1993 he was CEO of Bayernwerk AG. In the 1990s, he convinced the Bavarian government to privatize Bayernwerk and merge it with the industrial holding company VIAG. Holzer became spokesman for the supervisory board; In 1998 he resigned from almost all offices. Until 2003 he was a member of the E.ON Supervisory Board.
From 1998 to 2001 he was chairman of the university council at the Technical University of Munich, where he played a key role in founding the TUM School of Management (Faculty of Economics) and in implementing several pioneering reform measures (including structural reform of the Weihenstephan Life Science Campus, Digitization of administrative processes, performance-related allocation of funds).
