Joseph "Joe" Scally (born December 31, 2002 in Lake Grove , Brookhaven, New York ) is an American professional soccer player who plays as right-back for New York City FC . Scally will be under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach from January 1, 2021 .

Career

Scally signed his first professional contract with New York City FC on March 21, 2018, becoming the second youngest professional footballer in the United States after Freddy Adu . Scally made his professional debut for New York City in a 4-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls in the US Open Cup on June 6, 2018 .

On November 13, 2019, it was announced that Scally would switch to German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach after the 2020 MLS season . The transfer fee is quoted at 2 million US dollars and can increase to 7 million through additional payments.

National team

Scally is a youth international for the US who has represented the US U15 and US U17 even though he was up to 3 years younger than his teammates. He represented his country at the 2019 U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
