Maxime Chanot (* 21st November 1989 in Nancy ) is a Luxembourg football player who since 2016 when the US first division club New York City FC has a contract and for the senior national team of his country is active.

Career

Chanot started playing football at AS Nancy and later joined the youth team at Stade Reims . In 2006 he went abroad to the offspring of the former English first division club Sheffield United , for whom he was once used in the reserve teams. After loan positions at the Scottish first division club Hamilton Academical and Mansfield Town , he came back to France in 2009 for the then first division club Le Mans , where he was only used in the second team. He was then awarded to FC Gueugnon . In September 2011 he signed with the Belgian second division club White Star Woluwe . At the beginning of 2013 he finally moved to the Belgian first division side Beerschot AC - and after its relegation - six months later to the first division side KV Kortrijk .

In 2016 he moved to Major League Soccer (MLS) for New York City FC .

National team

Chanot was never used for a French youth national team. After his naturalization, he played for the first time on June 7, 2013 for the Luxembourg national team , which reached a 1-1 draw in the qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup in Baku against the selection of Azerbaijan . On June 4, 2014, he scored his first goal for the national team with a header in the 85th minute in the 1-1 draw in the international test match in Perugia against Italy .
