Joel Rogozin

Joel Donn Rogosin (born October 30, 1932 in Boston , Massachusetts , † April 21, 2020 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles ) was an American film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Joel Rogosin studied at Stanford University . He began his career in 1957 with a job as an errand boy in the postal department of Columbia Pictures . He then worked as an assistant editor in post-production. Just two years later he made his debut as a screenwriter with a script for an episode of the western series Pony Express . Two more years later, he made his debut as a producer on the crime series 77 Sunset Strip . By the end of his career in 1990, he had produced 24 and co-wrote 12 film and television productions. He has also directed individual episodes of two television series. Overall, he was nominated three times for an Emmy for his work on Der Chef and Magnum .

On April 21, 2020, Rogozin died at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital at the age of 87 during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection. At the end of March, COVID-19 first appeared in the home and, before Rogozin, the animator Ann Sullivan , the cameraman Allen Daviau and the actor Allen Garfield had already died as a result of COVID-19.
