Johan Frederik Hartle
Johan Frederik Hartle (born June 17, 1976 in Hanover ) is a German philosopher and art historian . On May 7, 2019, he was elected Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from October 1, 2019. From April 1, 2018 he was acting rector of the State University of Design Karlsruhe .
Life
Johan Frederik Hartle completed a master's degree in philosophy and political science at the University of Frankfurt . In 2005 he received his doctorate from the University of Münster with a dissertation on the subject of the open space. On the politics of aesthetic form . He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Philosophical Institute of the Universiteit van Amsterdam and held lectures at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie there . He also worked at the University of Rome III and at the Franz Rosenzweig Minerva Research Center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem .
In 2008/09 he was visiting professor at the Art Academy in Münster . Since 2011 he has been Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the China Academy of Intermedia Art in Hangzhou , he is also an associate member at the Institute for the Humanities at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and was Assistant Professor of Art and Cultural Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. In 2017 he was appointed full professor for art history and media theory at the State University of Design Karlsruhe , where he acted as acting rector from April 1, 2018.
On May 7, 2019, he was elected Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna by the University Council. He succeeded Eva Blimlinger in this role on October 1, 2019 . Jan Boelen is to replace him as rector of the Karlsruhe University of Design.
