Johann Adalbert Angermayer , also Angermeyer (born April 22, 1674 in Bilin , † May 10, 1742 in Prague ) was a German - Bohemian painter of the Baroque period .

Life

Johann Adalbert Angermayer, known in the Czech Republic as Jan Vojtěch Angermayer , was a student of Johann Rudolf Byss . According to the documents that have been preserved, he was a member of the painters' guild of Prague's Old Town between 1707 and 1727 , where he maintained friendly contacts with the painter Johann Michael Bretschneider . Angermayer worked in Prague throughout his life, and also for the Ossegg monastery from 1719 to 1722. His students were JK Hirschely, JV Jahn and K. Kastner. Occasionally he worked with Peter Johann Brandl .

meaning

Johann Adalbert Angermayer was an important still life painter of the Baroque period in Bohemia. His role models were not so much the Dutch , but Georg Flegel . He also created miniature still lifes on wood and copper, which are distinguished by their careful execution. Of the more than 70 known works by Angermayer, more than 20 are now in museums in the Czech Republic . A large part comes from the 1723 auction of the art collection of Felix Graf von Wrschowetz -Sekerka von Sedschitz.
