Johann Adam Delsenbach (born December 9, 1687 in Nuremberg ; † May 16, 1765 ibid) was a Franconian artist and engraver who mainly worked in Nuremberg.
Life
Johann Adam Delsenbach completed a three-year apprenticeship with the portrait engraver Augustin Fleischmann and attended the Nuremberg Painting Academy . On his wanderings he came to Leipzig in 1708 and traveled to Vienna in 1710 , where the imperial chief architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach had appointed him to make the engraved plates for his large architectural work.
When the plague broke out in Vienna in 1713 , he returned to Nuremberg, but in 1718 he went to Vienna again, where he made illustrations for a medal work on behalf of Carl Gustav Heraeus . In the same year he was appointed court engraver by Anton Florian Prince of Liechtenstein .
After the death of Prince von Liechtenstein in 1721, he lived again in Nuremberg. After a trip to Holland in 1733 he was nominated for the greater council of the city of Nuremberg.
Delsenbach was married a total of three times. His grave is in the Johannisfriedhof in Nuremberg .

His numerous city views, published in several collections, including one of Nuremberg and one of the rare total views of Vienna, are valuable sources for research on architecture and the history of the city.
Equally important for today's research are the very detailed colored copper engravings of the imperial regalia that he created in 1751 on behalf of the Nuremberg magistrate . These engravings were only published in 1790 under the name True Figure of the All Imperial Regions . ( Digitized version )
The graphic work of Delsenbach is almost completely present in the graphic collection of the city of Nuremberg .
reception
A street was named after him in the Wetzendorf district of Nuremberg . In 1932, Delsenbachgasse in Vienna- Simmering (11th district) was named after him.
