Johann Barnstorff

Johann Barnstorff (born January 24, 1648 in Rostock ; † May 9, 1705 there ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Johann Barnstorff was born as the son of the Rostock pharmacist Peter (1606–1652) and his wife Agneta Scharffenberg. His brother was the physician Bernhard Barnstorff . Johann first attended a school in Rostock, then a grammar school and in 1667 moved to the University of Wittenberg to study law. From 1668 he studied at the University of Rostock and from 1671 at the University of Jena . There he completed his studies in 1673 and received a law degree in April . The next year, on February 10, 1674, the University of Rostock awarded him a doctorate in law.

The next year he settled in Rostock as a practical lawyer and undertook a research trip through England and the Netherlands . In 1676 he married Anna Margarethe, the daughter of Professor Albert Willebrand the Elder. Ä. To advocate the consistory Barnstorff was named 1684th

On December 7, 1697, the University of Rostock appointed Barnstorff as full professor of the institutions . In 1701 he was also rector of the university . As a professor he died in 1705 at the age of 57.
