Johann Christoph von Goetze

Johann Christoph von Goetze (* 1637 in Tegel near Berlin ; † August 6, 1703 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , governor of the fortresses Küstrin , Driesen and Oderberg , and heir to Löhme, Weese, Brönigke, Wilmersdorf, Stada and Wolfenberg.

Life

He was the son of the Brandenburg colonel Jobst Friedrich von Götze (1608–1669), heir of Hermsdorf, Tegel and Rosenthal and his wife Anna Marie von Klitzing (* 1612).

Military career

As early as 1656 he was in the service of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm . In 1684 he became a captain and in 1686 a colonel . On March 18, 1692 he was appointed major general and chief of the garrison company in the fortress Peitz . On December 30, 1701 he was also appointed governor of Küstrin, Driesen and Oderberg. In 1703 he was promoted to lieutenant general, but he died that same year.

He took part in all campaigns of the elector, in Prussia, Poland, Pomerania, on the Rhine and in Alsace.

He was married twice. His first wife was either Caspararina Charlotta von Syberg or Isabella von Hagen . His second wife was Christina Agnes von der Heyden called Rynch. He had children from both marriages, including:
