Eggers father was Hinrich Albrecht Eggers (1791-1851). In 1778 the business moved from Wachtstrasse to Schlachte No. 7 and a wine tavern was also operated. During the French era of the Département des Bouches du Weser in Bremen , the company faced difficulties. After Eggers' death, family members continued to run the wine store, since 1826 as Joh.Eggers Sons and since 1840 also in the packing house at Martinistraße 34.

The great-grandson Johann Eggers continued to run the company as Joh. Eggers Sohn & Co. after taking on partners . He played an important role in public life: He was a deacon at the Bremen Cathedral , member of the management of the Sparkasse Bremen , in the administration of the St. Petri orphanage at the Domshof , member of the Bremen citizenship since 1866, member since 1868, since 1873 Vice-President and President of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce in 1875.

After 1866, the company also had a wine warehouse in Verden due to the problem in the Zollverein , since Hamburg and Bremen remained outside the customs area as free ports until 1888.

After Eggers's death, the Weinschenke und Kleinhandel company gave up in 1883, set up the wine store in the Freihafen (Europahafen) in 1888 and therefore gave up the warehouse in Verden. The liquor trade was expanded. The company existed with changing locations (Schlachte No. 39, Langenstraße No. 75, again Freihafen, Parkallee , Schwachhauser Heerstraße No. 33, Ellhornstraße No. 33) and currently exists at Getreidestraße No. 16 in Bremen.
