Johann Ernst Parow (born May 17, 1771 in Wismar , † February 19, 1836 in Greifswald ; full name: Johann Ernst Daniel Parow ) was a German theologian and university professor.

Johann Ernst Parow's father, Dr. Johann Christoph Parow, was the organist at the St. Georgenkirche in Wismar. After graduating from high school, he went to the University of Greifswald to study mathematical and philosophical sciences with Johann Christoph Muhrbeck . He heard theological lectures with Georg Brockmann , Theophilus Coelestinus Piper and Johann Christoph Ziemssen . General Superintendent Gottlieb Schlegel made Parow the educator of his children and his deputy. Parow married Schlegel's eldest daughter.

In 1795 he received his master's degree. A year later, the university's faculty of philosophy hired him as an adjunct. In 1802 he received his doctorate from the University of Wittenberg .

In 1803 Parow became associate professor, ten years later full professor of theology in Greifswald, and at the same time pastor at St. Marien .

In 1814 Johann Ernst Parow was elected rector of the university.

Parow's eldest son became a high school teacher in Greifswald, but died two years after his father's death at the age of 30.
