Georg Brockmann

Georg Brockmann (born March 17, 1723 in Greifswald ; † December 9, 1800 there ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian .

Life

Georg Brockmann began studying at the University of Greifswald after attending the Great Council School in Greifswald in 1739 . Two years later he moved to the University of Halle . 1748 he was in Greifswald to Magister , later that year as a doctor of philosophy doctorate and held there also lectures. In 1749 the city's magistrate appointed him archdeacon (second pastor) and early preacher at St. Nikolai Cathedral .

Brockmann earned a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1764 . In 1776 he received his doctorate in theology, after he had already taken over the pastorate at St. Mary's Church in 1775 . A full professorship at the university's theological faculty was associated with the pastor's position. In 1780 he became assessor at the ecclesiastical consistory and from 1788 to 1790 administered the post of general superintendent of Swedish Pomerania, which was vacant after the death of Bernhard Friedrich Quistorp . In 1780 and 1790 he was rector of the university.
