Bernhard Friedrich Quistorp
Bernhard Friedrich Quistorp (born April 11, 1718 in Rostock ; † January 4, 1788 in Greifswald ) was a Protestant theologian and general superintendent for Swedish Pomerania from 1778 to 1788 .
Live and act
Bernhard Friedrich Quistorp came from the North German Quistorp family and was born as the son of the Rostock businessman Lorenz Gottfried Quistorp (1691–1743). At the University of Rostock he began studying theology in April 1734 and was awarded a master's degree in 1743 and licentiate in theology in 1746 .
In October 1749 he became a doctor in Rostock and, in November of that year, finally a professor of theology. Four years later he also took over the office of superintendent for the synod (church district) Rostock.
On May 16, 1749 Quistorp married Catharina Wiencke (1721–1771) in Rostock. The son Johann (1752-1825) was raised in 1782 to the imperial nobility.
In 1766 he received the call to Greifswald as pastor at the St. Jakobi Church and professor of theology at the university there , of which he was rector from 1770 to 1771.
In 1778 he was appointed general superintendent in Greifswald and succeeded Laurentius Stenzler . He held this office until his death. He was succeeded by Gottlieb Schlegel .
