Johann Friedrich Albert (also: Joannes Federicus Albert and Jean Fédéric Albert ; born November 6, 1720 in Könnern in the Saalkreis ; † 1784 ) was a German philologist , headmaster and author .

life and work

Johann Friedrich Albert gained through his study of the title of Master of Philosophy .

As early as 1744 Albert was appointed deputy principal in Nordhausen . From 1748 at the latest, writings by Albert that appeared in Nordhausen are also known.

In 1752 Albert's son Johann August Julius Albert (1752–1815) was born, who later became mayor of the Neustadt in Hanover and father of the miner captain and inventor Wilhelm August Julius Albert . In the following year, 1753, Albert published a pamphlet about the rector Johann Eustachius Goldhagen, who had been his superior up until then .

In 1761 Albert went to Eisleben , where on December 19 of the same year he accepted the position of Tertius by appointing the sovereign and prince . Without any further examination, only after a trial lesson in front of the school classes, Albert was actually appointed to Tertius on February 9, 1762. But despite the impressive recommendation of the Eisleben consistory , Albert did not get into the position of vice-principal there for a long time: on the one hand, he had severely reprimanded the son and nephew of the mountain judge Christian Christoph Ziegenhorn on several occasions, on the other hand, the mountain judge had then indicted Albert with the sovereign Prince Heinrich on the basis of an apparently slight Albert's improper idea during one of his teaching units about the poet Terence .

Finally, on September 2, 1765, Albert was introduced to Eisleben as vice principal. On March 18, 1771, however, he resigned his office in Eisleben because he had been appointed rector of Nordhausen. There he headed the grammar school as the successor to Johann Konrad Hake, who was influenced by humanism (rector from 1769 to 1771). But this modern style of teaching was pushed back under Albert, as was his successor Johann Christian Friedrich Poppe (rector from 1784 to 1801).
