Johann Friedrich von Printzen

Johann Friedrich von Printzen , also von Prinzen , (* 1631 ; † May 4, 1691 ) was a major general in Brandenburg , head of a cavalry regiment and governor of Spandau and hereditary lord on Jerichow and Altenplathow .

His parents were Heinrich Wilhelm von Printzen and his wife Anna Elisabeth von Münster .

Military career

Little is known about his youth, not even when exactly he came into service in Brandenburg. On February 13, 1671 he became a colonel and commander of the cuirassier regiment Kurprinz en Chef . After the death of the owner Georg Adam von Pfuhl in 1672, he took over his regiment. During the Northern War it was still stationed in Wusterhausen and Kyritz in 1675. With this regiment he took part in the siege of Szczecin . After the Peace of Nijmegen , his regiment in Halberstadt was disbanded in 1679/1680 . On November 15, 1679, he was appointed major general. Shortly before, Joachim Henniges von Treffenfeld had already been promoted to major general, Printzen complained about his resignation and was then also promoted by the elector.
