Johann Gottfried Hornejus

Johann Gottfried Hornejus (born February 9, 1689 in Salzwedel , † September 10, 1757 in Stettin ) was a Protestant theologian and from 1733 to 1757 general superintendent in Western and Western Pomerania .

Johann Gottfried Hornejus was born as the son of M. Conrad Jakob Hornejus, pastor of the old town in Salzwedel and superintendent, and his wife Anna Dorothea Lange. He attended school in Salzwedel and from 1705 in the Halle (Saale) orphanage . From 1707 to 1711 he studied at the University of Halle .

After his exams in 1718 he became field chaplain of Infantry Regiment No. 23 under Jean Quirin de Forcade and in 1719 garrison and field preacher with the royal body regiment of the great grenadiers on foot in Potsdam .

On August 19, 1726 Hornejus was appointed court preacher at the castle church in Stettin and vice general superintendent in Western Pomerania. Five years later he took over the office of consistorial councilor in the Duchy of Pomerania .

In 1733 Hornejus became general superintendent in Western Pomerania and in 1738 also in Western Pomerania. In 1747 he also became a member of the 2nd Senate of the Royal Government.

Hornejus entered into three marriages: Anna Elisabeth Löwe († 1726), Helene de la Vallé and - in 1732 - Katharina Elisabeth Ernestine von Schönholz.
