Laurentius David Bollhagen

Laurentius David Bollhagen (born February 4, 1683 in Stargard , Pomerania , † January 7, 1738 in Stargard) was a Protestant theologian and Pomeranian general superintendent .

Live and act

Laurentius David Bollhagen was born the son of Stargard merchant David Bollhagen and his wife Dorothea Wagner. After attending the Gröning College in Stargard, he first studied at the University of Jena , where he received his master's degree , then at the University of Leipzig , where he acted as an opponent in a disputation by Christian Wolff in 1703 , and then at the University of Greifswald , where he worked on Earned a baccalaureate in theology on June 24, 1704 .

In 1706 Bollhagen became a substitute in the preposition Wollin with M. Johann Engelke, whose daughter Agnise (Agnes) he married on May 4, 1706. A year later he became a licentiate , and after another year he received his doctorate in theology.

In 1710 he became archdeacon at Stettin's Marienkirche and in the same year court preacher at the castle church in Stettin . A professorship in theology and oriental languages at the Regium Gymnasium Carolinum was connected to the pastor 's position.

When Stettin was ceded by Sweden to Prussia, Bollhagen received on June 29, 1721 the appointment as adjoint general superintendent in Western Pomerania under the official M. David Nerreter. After Nerreter's death, Bollhagen took over the official office and left Stettin in the direction of Stargard, having been awarded the title of Superintendent General in Western Pomerania a year earlier .

Theologically, Bollhagen was a representative of Lutheran Orthodoxy and an opponent of Pietism . He died at the age of 55.
