Here he attended the city school, traveled with his father to Holland and received a court master in Rotterdam. After an educational trip through the Upper Rhine countries, to the University of Strasbourg and the University of Tübingen , he obtained a licentiate in law on May 25, 1671 in Rostock . In 1673 he was appointed associate professor of law at the University of Helmstedt . He received his PhD in 1675 in Rostock to the doctor 's rights and was also on September 27, 1677 Professor of Ethics in Helmstedt. In 1678 he took over a full professorship for feudal law and canon law at the law faculty in Helmstedt, which he held until the end of his life. In addition, he was a member of the court in Wolfenbüttel .

His marriage on May 15, 1677 to Hedwig Sophia, the daughter of the Helmstedt professor at the law faculty Johann Eichel von Rautenkron (1621–1688), remained childless.
