Johann Heinrich Glaser

Johann Heinrich Glaser , also Johannes Henricus Glaserus (born October 6, 1629 in Basel ; † February 5, 1675 ibid) was a Swiss anatomist , surgeon and botanist .

Live and act

Glaser studied medicine at the universities of Basel , Heidelberg and Paris , among other things . In 1665, the doctor was appointed to the chair of Greek at the University of Basel, after he had not been taken into account when filling the chair of mathematics the year before. In 1667 Glaser was appointed professor of botany and anatomy there, which he held until his death. Glaser was a full professor between 1667 and 1668.

Under Glaser there was a lot of public dissection and autopsy activity at the university. With the surgeon Johannes Fatio , he also demonstrated surgical operations in 1674.

In a posthumously published Tractatus de Cerebro Glaser described the day as Glaser column named petrotympanic fissure .
